Grace Thao Photography, a NoCal Wedding + Portrait Photographer, shares her thoughts and tips for having a photoshoot at Burney Falls in Shasta County, California.
Are you searching for the perfect location for a stunning photoshoot in California?
Look no further than Burney Falls in Shasta County. As a NoCal Wedding + Portrait Photographer, I can confidently say that Burney Falls is one of my favorite spots to capture breathtaking images.
AND FOR GOOD REASON!
In this blog, I’ll share my thoughts and tips on why Burney Falls is an ideal location for your next photoshoot and what you should know before planning your visit.
One of the best aspects of Burney Falls is its accessibility.
Unlike many other waterfalls that require strenuous hikes, Burney Falls offers a hassle-free experience.
As someone who isn’t fond of hiking or cardio, I appreciate that it’s just a quick walk from the parking lot. This means you can spend more time focusing on capturing beautiful moments and less time worrying about reaching the location.
Burney Falls is approximately a four-hour drive from Stockton. While it may seem like a long journey, trust me when I say that the trip is worthwhile.
With all of my couples, I recommend making a day (or even a weekend) trip out of it!
When planning your photoshoot at Burney Falls, it’s important to keep in mind that the area can get hot, especially during the summer months. However, as soon as you walk down to the waterfall, you’ll be greeted by the feeling of coolness from the mist.
To make the most of your photoshoot, I highly recommend scheduling your session on a weekday.
Weekdays tend to be less crowded, allowing you to have the waterfall and its surroundings mostly to yourselves. By avoiding the weekend rush, you’ll have more flexibility and space to compose your shots, resulting in a truly exceptional visual narrative.
I have been doing this for a while, AND TRUST ME, fighting crowds just isn’t worth it!
Since Burney Falls is relatively remote, it’s important to be prepared for limited cell service in the area.
I suggest arriving early before your session to avoid any connectivity issues. This way, you can focus on creating stunning photographs without any interruptions.
There is a parking fee at Burney Falls. While it’s a small price to pay for the incredible beauty you’ll witness, it’s important to factor this into your budget when planning your photoshoot.
It costs $10.00 to park and $35.00 for overnight camping.
Burney Falls is a location that offers breathtaking backdrops. Whether you’re seeking the perfect setting for bridal portraits, engagement photos, or even an elopement, this natural wonder has it all.
TRULY.
The cascading waterfall will add a touch of awe-inspiring beauty to your photographs, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
