Okay, so this engagement photoshoot needs to go on your Pinterest board immediately. The couple’s fall outfits, the waterfall backdrop, the LOVE exuding from these pics??? Seriously, so classic. As a California engagement photographer, this is what my dreams are made of! You won’t want to miss this session at Burney Falls for all your California engagement photo inspiration!

If your vibe is outdoor engagement photos surrounded by the gorgeous California scenery, you don’t want to overlook Burney Falls. With evergreen trees, rocky hiking trails, and waterfalls, it’s a place that’s just so majestic. And the best part? It’s gorgeous for photos year-round! Want to plan your engagement photoshoot there now? Thought so. Here’s everything you need to know!:
Your outfit totally depends on the season and what you want your photos to look like. The #1 priority is comfort, so make sure you wear something that you can move in! And if you want to get photos swimming in the lake that’s in a different spot of the park, make sure to dress for that (and know that I LOVE your energy).
Jessica and Michael’s outfits? Absolutely perfect. They dressed for the weather and the season, while staying true to themselves, to get the casual engagement photos of their dreams.

Nope! As someone who is NOT a cardio fan, I’m thrilled any time I book a Burney Falls engagement photoshoot, because it’s super accessible from the parking lot.🤣 There are a few different areas in the park (like a small beach at Lake Britton) that we can trek over to, though, if you’d like some variety in location!

Unless you’re planning a commercial photoshoot or a wedding here, a permit is not needed! So for your engagement photos, we are all set without you having to worry about filling out and paying for a permit application. Cue the sigh of relief.

While there’s no entrance fee or fee to take photos, there IS a parking fee of $10, so make sure you come prepared with that!
Every good photoshoot starts with a plan, and as a Northern California engagement photographer, I’ve come up with the pro guide on what you need to bring for a successful session:

Like I said before, it’s gorgeous here year-round. Of course, the weather will be a bit chillier from November-April-ish, but that can make for some cozy sessions, which I’m all for! My favorite time of year here, personally, is during the summer. It’s a bit warmer, but the waterfall inevitably WILL splash on you at least a little bit, which will cool you down a little! But the light dances beautifully on the water, the days are longer, and something about a summer vibe at a waterfall photoshoot just feels right.

Burney Falls is open from 8:00 am to sunset, so I always recommend heading there a few hours before sunset to capture that perfect lighting. Note that it is definitely busier on the weekends, so I’ll always try to get my clients to go on a weekday if possible, to avoid the crowds!

These two had me crying in the club. If you can’t tell from every single picture, they were SO giggly the entire time because they were so giddy about being engaged!! And honestly, that’s the dream. That kind of love you wait your whole life for. The kind of love that lets you show off your WHOLE personality.
Jessica and Michael were seriously such naturals, and a dream to photograph. They listened to my cues and prompts and trusted my vision, and as a NorCal engagement photographer, that’s all I can ever ask for!

Dreaming of a session just like this? You bring the romance, I’ll bring the camera. Third wheeling is my jam, and that’s exactly what your engagement photoshoot should feel like.
