Northern California is basically the land of pretty views and wine country vibes. And the wedding venues here show it. So if you’re planning a luxe wedding, you’re in luck here. As a NorCal wedding photographer, I shoot allll around: Sacramento, San Francisco, Napa Valley… You name it. That being said, I’ve seen weddings at a LOT of different NorCal wedding venues. And if you’re in the midst of your Google search chaos looking for the one that’s your perfect fit (a little luxury, a little elevated),I’ve gotchu with my absolute faves!!

If I’m totally honest, I love everything about Northern California. Weddings here, though… They’re special. They have good AF weather and light that feels like it was MADE for you, and if we’re getting into the aesthetics of it all, they’re just so stunning!!
Before we get into the good stuff, you need to know why NorCal wedding venues are so the vibe:

Northern California is huge, and one of the best parts about getting married here is the variety of landscapes you can choose from!! The venues on this list span across some of the most popular wedding destinations in Northern California, including:
Each of these venues offers a totally different vibe, from elegant historic mansions to intimate coastal properties. And that’s what makes Northern California such an incredible place to get married.

This list honestly could go on and on, but these are a few standout venues that I’ve captured days at that just feel (and look) right. Without further ado… My favorite NorCal wedding venues!!
Cavaignac? Yeah, it’s one you won’t want to miss. This estate setting feels like you’re in an actual Renaissance romance movie, and photos on horses? They’re encouraged here.
Seriously, though, walking into Cavaigac is like walking into the setting of Pride and Prejudice, and I couldn’t love it more!! It has estate views, waterfront views, and rolling lawns to choose between for your ceremony and reception, and they’re all 10/10. Every inch of this Northern California wedding venue feels serene and unique, and it’s a place where you’ll feel a little fancy but still have a whole lotta fun. See exactly how a day plays out here in my Cavaignac planning guide!!
Here are all the main details you need to know about planning your day here:
My Cavaignac girlies are usually the ones who have been planning their weddings since they were about 4 years old. I’m picturing a fairytale-esque day, a pastel garden color palette, tons of sweet love songs on the playlist, and a whimsical, romantic wedding dress. So if that sounds anything like you, you won’t want to pass up Cavaignac!!

Obsessed is the understatement of the CENTURY for how I feel about Grand Island Mansion. It’s a true gem right here in Sacramento, where you can spin around like a princess under the courtyard string lights in your ballgown wedding dress and then pop into your reception dress, have a margarita (or three), and dance all night to a hype playlist. It holds both vibes so well, and if you’re anything like me, that’s probably exactly what you’re looking for.
One of my favorite parts about this NorCal wedding venue is that everything here is structured. It has lines that make for some really interesting, playful details (I can’t get over the bushes at the ceremony site, personally) and luxury architecture that makes for some hella good editorial shots. Because, as a NorCal wedding photographer, aesthetics are just as important as logistics to me. Sue me!!
You can find the whole guide to planning your Grand Island Mansion wedding here, but here’s a quick overview of the space:
So, if you’re the type of couple that wants some grandeur during the day and a wild party to end the night, don’t skip Grand Island Mansion. Don’t skip me, either, because… That’s literally the dream.

For a place that’s secluded and super welcoming, Switzer Farm is somehow also effortlessly cool. The coastal views here are to die for, and the fact that you’re all on your own on 22 acres of land… Yeah. Sold.
Switzer Farm is one of those places that makes sense for a wedding weekend, which I’m always soooo here for!! You get the whole property to yourself for the entire weekend, so… Why not?! A small welcome party on the first day, the wedding on the second day, and a post-wedding brunch in one of the on-site cottages the day after your wedding is the best formula here, and I’m obsessed with that energy.
There’s an 1884 Victorian Farmhouse on-site that sleeps up to 20 people (so your bridal party can have, like, the coolest sleepover ever), then wake up feeling cozy and take a slow morning doing allll the bestie things before the events of the day.
If this one is sounding like your dream, here’s what you need to know about it:
Switzer Farm is giving Wuthering Heights vibes to the MAX. Something about a small, moody day here feels like it fits just right!! So if you’re dreaming about burgundy color palettes and a cool girl wedding dress (cough, cough, Reko by Watters), you need to reach out to Switzer Farm (and me!!), like, yesterday.
The Ranch at Silver Creek is one of those venues that doesn’t need much, because it’s SO stunning all on its own. The Spanish-style architecture and the mountain views?? I can’t. It feels like you’re on top of a mountain overlooking a whole other world, and it’s actually everything!!
I’m obsessed with days here because they feel traditional but… Elevated. It doesn’t need anything fancy, because the views do that all on their own. Nothing is stuffy or overdone, it just has such a simple feel throughout the whole day. No one is wondering where they’re supposed to be next, there are no awkward bumps in the timeline, just good energy and a whole lotta celebration.
It can also hold quite literally any wedding style. Classic and timeless? Yep. Modern and cool girl-esque? Totally. Whatever your vision is, it’ll fit here, TRUST me.
Here are the need-to-know deets, babe!!
One of my favorite parts about The Ranch at Silver Creek is that you can hold a party. After your reception dress change (which needs to be something like Jeremy by Evie Young) when your perfectly-curated playlist comes on… Yeah. It’s fun.

Hakone Estate and Gardens invented classy. The Japanese garden in Saratoga is the definition of serene, and if your vision for your day looks like something a little intimate, a little slow, and a little romantic, you’re gonna love it as much as I do.
Something about Hakone Estate makes you drop your shoulders when you walk in. It’s so naturally still and quiet here, so if that’s the peace you’re looking for on your wedding day, Hakone is the one!! To me, this NorCal wedding venue fits a day that feels more calm and laid-back than one that feels like a huge party. I can SO picture it for couples who want a small, early-in-the-day ceremony and a separate reception to celebrate!!
If you want your own wedding surrounded by cherry blossoms and koi ponds (because who wouldn’t??), here’s everything to know about Hakone:
If you’re the kind of person who wants very little structure for your day and values comfort without sacrificing beauty, Hakone is one that’s right up your alley.

Okay, I’ve only shot engagement photos at Filoli, but I’m dying to go back for a wedding. The vibes here are so good, with the perfect mix of vibrant colors (that I ADORE for film photography), editorial lines, scenic views, and real, actual ease in planning.
The spring views are incredible here, and they have so many venue options (indoor and outdoor) that make literal breathtaking backdrops for your day!! I can picture a super dreamy ceremony in the gardens, a cocktail hour on the ballroom patio, then a reception underneath the stars here so well, and every single part of the day feels classy and elevated. And I love that for you.
If a day that feels easy and effortless (but still absolutely STUNNING) is calling to you, here’s everything else you need to know about Filoli:
If you DO plan your day here, I can’t stop thinking about a day with tons of statement florals and a whimsical wedding dress like Gwendolyn by Jenny Yoo. Need that in my life immediately!!

Okay, there’s something about a hotel wedding that already feels like a destination wedding weekend, and Rosewood Sand Hill brings that energy. The property feels expansive, and each area of it honestly feels different than the others, and that variety is something that as a NorCal wedding photographer, I LOVE for your gallery.
Rosewood Sand Hill is one of those places that you can wake up and immediately feel the excitement buzzing. Since it’s a hotel, you and your girlies get to wake up together, get some coffee, dance around the hotel room listening to your hype playlist, and start getting glammed before the events of the day begin, and it’s peak girlhood!! Then, when it’s time for the ceremony, you get to make your hella dramatic entrance to the ceremony site and say your vows against the most gorgeous mountain view backdrop.
The day ends with space for a party. Live music always works well for cocktail hours and dinners under the tented outdoor area, then subbing in a DJ to celebrate all night long with all your people?? It’s the move!!
If that sounds like your dream day, here’s what you need to know:
You can see a full wedding at this NorCal wedding venue in action (plus some of my favorite 2026 trends) from Deema and Bilal’s day and get tons of inspiration for how to style your wedding at Rosewood Sand Hill. I’ll give you a hint, though: everything should make a STATEMENT!!

Castle vibes?? Yes please! If I’m being real, Kohl Mansion feels like a fairytale setting, and I can’t choose my fave part of it between the polished gardens, the grand ballroom, and the front lawn!!
This is the kind of venue where everything feels classy and luxurious, and if that’s your style… I absolutely love that for you. It’s the perfect setting for a day that feels elegant without trying and never feels stiff!! So if you’re dreaming of your princess day, this is the one.
Here’s what you need to know about the NorCal wedding venue:
The perfect day here, in my opinion, feels like a spring wedding with a ceremony in the gardens (because who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by the blooming flowers??) followed by a reception on the lawn under the stars. You’re probably wearing a ballgown like Pick Me Up by Sarah Seven, and your color palette is probably full of soft, romantic pastels. And genuinely, that’s the dream!!
I’m not just a NorCal wedding venue that loves aesthetics (although, yeah, I definitely do). I also know that the planning and logistics aspect plays a huge part in your wedding planning!! So if you see a venue on this list that you’re obsessed with, here’s what you need to know about the best time of year to plan your wedding in Northern California:

As someone who does see tons of beautiful NorCal wedding venues in person, trust me when I say I KNOW how tough making this choice is. And not because there aren’t any good ones, but because there are too many good ones!!
One of the biggest things I tell couples is to pay attention to how a venue feels throughout the day, not just how it looks online.
Some venues photograph beautifully because they have:
When couples choose a venue that actually flows well, the entire wedding day feels more relaxed, which leads to more natural photos and a better overall experience, trust me.

What are the best NorCal wedding venues for large weddings?
Northern California wedding venues like The Ranch and Silver Creek and Grand Island Mansion are huge, with room for 400-400 guests. So if you’re dreaming of that huge party feel… Yeah, they’ve got you covered.
What are the best NorCal wedding venues for intimate weddings?
Swtizer Farm is THE place for intimate weddings. Everything about this venue feels cozy, but still elevated. With a max capacity of 99 guests, it just fits a smaller group so well.
How much do Northern California wedding venues cost?
There’s a huge price range for NorCal wedding venues that’s totally dependent on things like your guest count, the package you choose, and the time of year you’re getting married in!!
How far in advance should you book NorCal wedding venues?
When you have spaces THIS gorgeous, they fill up fast. I always recommend trying to book out at least a year in advance, but the sooner, the better to make sure you reserve your spot!

Many couples planning weddings at NorCal wedding venues are traveling in from out of state, especially for destinations like Napa Valley, the Bay Area, or the Northern California coast. Because, let’s face it, that’s not beauty you can find just anywhere.
As a NorCal wedding photographer who regularly travels across the region, I help couples plan timelines, lighting, and portrait locations so their wedding weekend feels relaxed and intentional. So if you want some help from a local… I’ve gotchu!!

If you’re still unsure, I get it. As your NorCal wedding photographer, I’m here to chat with you about your vision and help you choose the venue that aligns with that the most. To get started, inquire right here!!
