If you’re here, you might be a recently engaged couple in NorCal who’s dreaming about luxury engagement photos. And if that tracks… I love you already!! As a San Francisco engagement photographer, classy, timeless engagement photos?? They’re my whole jam, and Legion of Honor in San Francisco is literally one of the BEST places for a session like that.
Calyx and Jairaj’s shoot at Legion of Honor had me squealing behind the camera the whole time, and they’re prob gonna live on my Pinterest boards forever and ever now. Take a peek into this day for all the luxury engagement photo ideas you need, plus learn how to plan a session just like this if you’re as obsessed as I am!!

Okay, if you’ve never seen or been to Legion of Honor in San Francisco… You’re missing out. Because this place?? It’s literally a dream come true.
It’s an art museum in San Francisco with the most GORGEOUS architecture, lighting, and glimpses of NorCal mountains that I’ll neverrr get over. Those three things are basically my own personal recipe for a good time, because they give us all the most insane luxury engagement photos. You two, leaning against the columns?? Okay, Vogue. You two running around in the field that adds a ‘lil pop of color?? We LOVE blurry, cinematic engagement photos!!
And if you want luxury engagement photos but Legion of Honor already isn’t feeling like your place, take a peek at these San Francisco City Hall engagement photos I captured for a fully indoor, fully classy vibe.

You might already be sold on Legion of Honor, and I TOTALLYYY get it. It’s really gorgeous, and it fits luxury engagement photos so well!!
Here are the things you need to know before we just show up with a camera and start snapping pics. You know I’ve gotchu!!
You don’t need a permit for engagement photos at Legion of Honor, and you can take them pretty much anywhere on the property. Certain art pieces will have different rules, but they’re always noted!!
We can’t prevent visitors from getting inside the building (obvi), and we can’t bring props, but otherwise, we’re all set!! And don’t worry, I’m here to guide you as your San Francisco engagement photographer.

Legion of Honor in San Francisco is open Tuesday through Sunday, and in my opinion, the absolute best time to take engagement pics here is earlier in the week, in the morning. Grabbing your morning matcha, then heading to Legion of Honor?? The dream!!
For exterior photos around the Court of Honor, I love weekday mornings when everything feels quieter and we have more room to play around without a million people in the background. If you want photos inside the museum too, we’ll plan around current museum hours and photography policies.
As far as time of year… Any time works. Spring, summer, and fall in San Francisco have mild temps that let us get some gorgeous outdoor photos in the Court of Honor, and if you’re more of a winter engagement photo gal, we can absolutely spend our time shooting inside. Trust me, it’s absolutely stunning!!

Speaking of the locations here… You’re in for a TREAT, babe!!
This is one of those places where every inch is gorgeous, so you could basically take pictures in a closet and they’d be perfect!! Seriously, though, there are a few spots here that you cannot miss for engagement photos:
Basically, expect 1-2 hours of running around the property (with a plan by me, of course!!) getting tons of romantic, editorial shots for the luxury engagement photos you’ve been thinking about since approximately the exact second that your fiancé got down on one knee.

If you’re one of the people I JUST mentioned who’s been scrolling on Pinterest looking for luxury engagement photoshoot ideas, you’re probably in the right place. But if you’re still debating whether luxury engagement photos are right for you or not, here are a few things that make me think they’re SO you:
And if you’re reading this thinking, “Okay, wait… She gets it,” you can peek at what it’s actually like to plan an engagement session with me + my investment here.

I already know what your next question is, and don’t worry, because I’ve 1,000% gotchu.
If you’re wondering what to wear for luxury engagement photos, my best tip is to always go classy, elegant, and timeless!! Any sort of simple ivory silk or satin always looks SO good (think The Jeany Silk Dress from Reformation), or you could add in some unique, sculptural details with something like Maren by Jenny Yoo, because you ARE the art, babe.

This was a couple who really wanted that elegant, timeless feel in pictures, and Legion of Honor was pretty much the perfect choice for them.
We headed up to the museum early on a weekday, and the lighting? Immaculate. The crowds?? Non-existent. It was just these two, the most ADORABLE freakin’ love, and Calyx’s two-piece engagement dress that’s gonna be living rent-free in my mind forever now!!
These two really showed that you can get luxury engagement photos that still feel like a fun ‘lil date, and they did it WELL. We love a bride with a vision!!

If you’ve been reading this and nodding your head like “yep, this is exactly what I want,” I’d seriously LOVE to hear all about your vision!! Whether you go for luxury engagement photos at Legion of Honor or casual engagement photos on the beach, know that I’m so down and SO ready to capture your love in a way that feels super genuine and super nostalgic.
